Erdem Holding has ordered 20 of the German manufacturer's N117/2400 turbines for its Bagerasi wind farm in Aydin, 90 kilometres south-east of Izmir, close to the Aegan coast.

Nordex said that, by Turkish standards, the average wind speed is low, at 6.6m/s, meaning that the N117/2400 turbine is suited to the site. The turbines will be installed on towers with a hub height of 91 metres.

The project is due to come online in 2015. The contract includes a five-year service deal.

Erdem Holding also recently ordered seven N117/3000 turbines for the Odemis wind project, which is located close to the Bagarasi development. With the completion of this latest project, Nordex will have installed more than 1GW in Turkey.
