The first turbine was installed last September but weather issues hampered the project. A2Sea's Sea Installer vessel set up the last 44 turbines over the past 63 days to complete the project on time.

The Scottish Power and Dong Energy co-owned development is using 108 Siemens 3.6MW turbines at the site located 14 kilometers off the Cumbrian coast, north-west England.

The first electricity was generated from the project in January, exporting power to the National Grid via an onshore substation at Heysham, Lancashire. The site is expected to be fully operational by the end of this year.

The Danish vessel specialist said its Sea Installer would now be deployed at the Borkum Riffgrund 1 project in German North Sea waters.
