The announcement comes after the Crown Estate opened the site off the coast of Northumberland, north-east England, to offers of interest from new developers.
The National Renewable Energy Centre (Narec), which merged with ORE in April, took the project through the consent stages and there is now planning consent for onshore and offshore activities.
As a result of the Crown Estate's decision, the development body is selling most of the remaining assets – mainly grid connection, wind data and onshore land rights.
The development consists of three separate arrays, each with a maximum capacity of 33.3MW and up to five turbines. It is being offered to developers to install and test prototype offshore turbines.
The offshore anemometry platform installed near the site in 2012 will not be sold so research and data licensing services can continue to be offered.
