Connecticut-based contractor Ocean Surveys will lead the project with Fathom Research, AIS, Hercules SLR and the ESS Group, all based in Massachusetts, providing support.

Ocean Surveys, which helped the development in the planning stages, will now investigate the site's subsea geology on Horseshoe Shoal and offshore cable routes.

Fathom Research will provide diver assisted sub-bottom imaging, while AIS will be responsible for delivering the protected species observers to the project.

Hercules SLR is providing safety training to the Cape Wind management team and the ESS Group will assist the developer with managing the surveys.

Cape Wind is in the race to be the first offshore wind project in the US. It will use 130 Siemens 3.6MW turbines when it comes online, expected to be in 2016.
