The eventual sales price will be a barometer for how far Spanish wind assets have been devalued by the government austerity renewables reform.

Catalunya Banc received a €12 billion injection following the EU's €99 billion bailout of Spain's banking sector in 2009. Terms gave the bank until end-2015 to divest all non-core assets before it can be sold back to the private sector.

However, it denied rumours it was rushing to beat ratification of Spain's draft renewables reform, which will slash profits from existing Spanish wind power capacity. It pointed out all other non-core assets were also up for sale.

The minority wind assets are wrapped up in the plants of Torre Madrina (48MW), Coll de Moro (48MW) and Vilalba dels Arcs (24MW) in Catalonia region, and Los Pedreros (50MW) and Iniciativas Eólicas Castellanas (49MW) in Castile La Mancha and Castile and León, respectively.
