The deal is part of a master supply agreement announced last September that could see the Danish Manufacturer supply EDF with up to 1.2GW of turbines for US projects.

Vestas will install the V100-2MW machines on a number of projects in the Texas Panhandle with a combined capacity of 195MW.

Delivery of the turbines is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2015, with commissioning due the same year. Included in the contract is a five-year service and maintenance agreement.

This latest order means that Vestas has now secured contracts worth 494MW under the supply agreement.

The manufacturer said that the order has contributed to its already announced decision to add more temporary workers at its Colorado factories. Vestas is to add at least 450 new jobs at the plants due to what it described as a surge in demand.
