BMT will design eight 26-metre wind farm support vessels (WSV) to be delivered to the UK-based crew transfer vessel management company in early 2015.

The order comes after eight 21-metre WSVs, designed by BMT, were delivered to Njord.

As with the previous contract, the new vessels will be built by Australian shipbuilder Strategic Marine. The eight ships will be 26-metres long with a 9.1-metre beam and four Scania diesel engines.

The new 26-metre WSVs will be capable of reaching 27.5 knots with ten tonnes of deadweight and be built to operate up to 150 nautical miles offshore.

Strategic Marine revealed the fleet is due to be built at their Singapore and Vietnam shipyards. Njord Offshore said the new aluminium-hulled ships would offer increased speed, efficiency and operational capabilities.
