Bladt hires EEW for Gode Wind

GERMANY: Bladt Industries has handed EEW Special Pipe Conscructions the monopile supply deal for Dong Energy's Gode Wind 1 and 2 projects.

Bladt has worked with EEW on wind projects previously, including on Walney and London Array in the UK, as well as Baltic 2 and Butendiek in Germany. Gode Wind 1 and 2 have a combined capacity of 582MW.

The company said it will build 97 XL monopiles at EEW's factory in Rostock, Germany, and the transmission components in Aalborg, Denmark. This will begin in Q3.

Speaking about the deal, EEW CEO Karl Klös-Hein said: "This is our first order for XL monopiles and it shows that our serious investments in building a new production hall for XL monopiles were the right decision."

Commissioning is expected in 2016. The projects will be made up of 97 Siemens 6MW turbines.
