According to local press reports, Rasmus Helveg Petersen said that the DKK 1.05 (EUR 0.141) per kilowatt hour currently paid for the Anholt offshore wind farm is too high.
The current market price for electricity in Denmark is DKK 0.25/kWh, which Petersen said means the 400MW project is costing consumers DKK 1.3 billion a year in green levies.
The minister told Danish paper Jyllands-Posten that he is ready to drop two large-scale offshore wind farms, Horns Rev 3 and Krieger's Flak, with a total capacity of 1GW, if prices are not brought down.
Both wind farms are at an early stage in the permitting process and developers have not yet been chosen for the projects.
