The money will be put towards enabling the construction of manufacturing facilities for turbine components as well as logistics facilities for operations and maintenance work.

A 0.4 square kilometre site has been put aside at the port for the development of these facilities. The heavy-lifting capabilities of the port will be improved with the money in order to handle the next-generation offshore turbine components.

The majority of the money, EUR 28 million, is coming from the French government, with the port authority adding another EUR 12.3 million.

Regional authorities are providing the rest of the funding. Work is expected to begin in 2015, with completion due in 2017.

Earlier this month, Moventas, ABB and NTN said they plan to establish themselves at the Le Harve base of Areva's offshore.
