The company said that the new office in Stuttgart, in the southern state of Baden-Württemberg, has been fully operational since the start of December.

Frank Finzel, general manager of the new subsidiary, RES Deutschland, said the business is already "engaged in significant discussions with a number of stakeholders" in the country.

He added that RES is looking to become a significant player in Europe's biggest wind market.

Recent changes in Germany's renewable energy law were cited as a key factor in attracting the developer to the country.

According to Windpower Intelligence, RES does not yet have any projects in Germany.
