The sale is part of its "overseas expansion strategy", Ming Yang said in a statement. Ming Yang CEO Chuanwei Zhang said: "Ming Yang expects to leverage this opportunity in Romania as a base of expansion into Europe and intends to supply competitive wind power solutions to customers in the region."
The Chinese manufacturer said that the unnamed wind farm is likely to feature its low wind 2MW turbine featuring a 110-metre rotor.
Approximately EUR 400 million will be invested to bring the plant into energy production, according to Ming Yang.
Chinese premier Li Kegiang and the prime minister of Romania Victor Ponta were present at the signing of the contract in Bucharest at a summit of Eastern European and Chinese leaders.
There is a rush to get wind farms spinning in Romania, with an attractive green certificate incentive scheme only applying to plants operating by 2016.
As such the Romanian Wind Energy Association expects 900MW of new capacity to have been added in 2013, bringing the total to more than 2.8GW.
