Dongfang merges two wind divisions

CHINA: Dongfang Electric Corporation (DEC) is to merge two of its divisions setting up a new wind power department.

The new department will combine two subcompanies, Dongfang Turbine (DTC) and Dongfang Electric Machinery (DFEM) for better, according to DEC.

DTC delivered 466.5MW DFIG wind turbines in 2012, ranking number ninth bigger supplier in China. According to the 2013 Annual Review and Outlook on China Wind Power.

By end-2012, DTC had delivered 14.2GW turbines in total, following Goldwind and Sinovel in the Chinese market and ranking third.

The other subcompany DFEM has been producing 1.5MW and 2.5MW Permanent Magnetic Direct Drive wind turbines since 2009.

And its research on 3MW and 6MW PMDD generators will help DEC compete in the offshore market, according to the company.
