GERMANY: Siemens Wind Power CTO Henrik Stiesdal tells Windpower TV that he believes Siemens can hit its target of bringing the cost of offshore wind energy down by 40% by 2020.
He says that the ambitious target will need improvements in turbine technology, electrical and grid connections and O&M provision.
He adds that many of the cost reductions are out of manufacturers' hands, and so emphasises the need for all elements in the industry to pull together to bring costs down fast.
