UK: Marine consultancy Fugro EMU has been commissioned by Scira Offshore Energy to undertake geophysical surveys around the 317MW Sheringham Shoal wind farm.

Scira Offshore Energy, which operates Sheringham Shoal, instructed the marine survey and environmental consultancy company to carry out seabed mapping and tracking surveys around each monopile foundation.

It will also investigate the underwater terrain along the areas of export and inter-array cables.

The survey is a requirement of UK marine regulator Marine Management Organisation’s licence conditions for the 88-turbine Sheringham Shoal site, which lies 20 kilometres off the Norfolk coast on England's east coast.

Fugro EMU will be obtaining high-resolution data using its multi-beam echo-sounders.

The UK company previously conducted two extensive magnetometer surveys to detect unexploded World War II munitions at the Sheringham Shoal site to support it during the construction phase.
