Köktas made his announcement at the Turkish Wind Energy Congress organised by the Turkish Wind Energy Association last week in Istanbul.
The filing dates for new applications, Köktas said, are 24, 25, 28, 29 and 30 April 2015. Köktas added the application procedure will comply with guidelines introduced by the Electricity Market Law No. 6446.
He also said that so far the agency has provided licenses for the installation of 9,679MW of wind-power plants, of which 2,676MW is now online, up from 19MW in 2002. In addition, 21 wind projects worth a total of 1,192MW capacity are currently in the process of obtaining licenses, he added.
"Some $4 billion has been invested in wind power over the last decade," Köktas said, "which now provides 4.5% of the total electricity produced in Turkey".
Meanwhile, the Turkish energy and natural resources ministry published details last week of the new power capacity added in the country from January to October 2013. According to the ministry, of the 4,942MW installed in this period, about 428MW came from wind.
Thermal power stations provided 2,236MW, hydro 2,062MW and geothermal, biogas and biomass sources about 215MW of capacity.
