Q4 West approved

NETHERLANDS: Eneco's 210MW Q4 West offshore wind site, in the Dutch North Sea, has been approved by the Rijkswaterstaat, part of The Netherland's Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment.

The Dutch utility’s 70-turbine project, with a 3MW capacity each, is planned 26km west of the town of Bergen aan Zee, in the North Holland province.

The final permit for the 21 square kilometre, Q4 West, follows a shift in its planned location to avoid disruption to major shipping lines.

Q4 West lies directly behind the 78MW wind plant Q4, which Eneco obtained a permit for in 2009.

However, Eneco states: "There are no concrete plans for the realisation of these two wind farms at present".

As a result of Q4 West being permitted, Eneco's 2009-acquired permit for the 212MW Scheveningen Buiten project was withdrawn.
