Gamesa to supply 54MW in India

INDIA: Gamesa said it has received a 54MW deal from an unnamed Indian utility for a project in the east of the country.

Under the deal, Gamesa will supply 27 G97 2MW turbines for the project in Tagguparthi, Andhra Pradesh state, which is due to come online in May 2014.

This is the second deal Gamesa has received in Andhra Pradesh this year. In May, it won a 46MW contract from Indian company ITC.

This was for 23 G97 2MW low-wind turbines, also at Tagguparthi, and a five-year service agreement. Installation is set for Q1 2014.

Last year, Gamesa outlined it planned it planned to shift more focus to emerging markets, especially Latin America and India. At the time, it said it expected to combine 70% of its business this year, up from 5% in 2006.
