Broadwind secures $106 million US tower deal

UNITED STATES: Broadwind Energy has secured an order for towers worth $106 million from an unnamed US wind turbine manufacturer.

Broadwind has two US tower manufacturing plants
The company said it will manufacture the towers in its US facilities in Manitowoc, Wisconsin and Abilene, Texas.

These two factories have a yearly capacity of 500 towers, and Broadwind chief executive Peter Duprey said that this latest order brings the company "within reach of filling out planned 2014 tower capacity".

Since the start of 2013, the manufacturer has recorded tower orders worth $306 million.

In 2012, the firm announced it would have to close some of its facilities after a drop in sales.
