Vestas 50MW Uruguay win

URUGUAY: Vestas is to supply turbines with a capacity of 50MW to developer Fingano for a project in Uruguay.

Vestas' V112-3MW turbines will be deployed at the site
The Carape plant in Maldonado in the south of the country will be fitted with 17 Vestas V112-3MW turbines.

The turbines are scheduled for delivery in the second quarter of 2014, while the plant is set to be commissioned by the third quarter of 2014.

Miguel Picardo Troyano, vice president Vestas South America said the company had previously received 130MW of orders in Uruguay this year. In May, Vestas agreed to supply forestry company Compañia Forestal Uruguaya with 90MW, following another deal deal for 40MW with Akuo Energy in January.

Uruguay has ambitious plans to meet all of its electricity needs through renewables by 2030, with 30% coming from wind. This year it is expected to hit its midway target of 450-500MW of installed wind two years ahead of time.

The contract includes delivery, installation, commissioning of the turbines, and a 17-year active management service agreement which guarantees turbine availability.
