RES will use the base to manage its operations and maintenance business, including the recently announced Forewind Dogger Bank met mast contract, and deals with clients that include Smartwind, the joint venture developing the 4GW Hornsea wind plant.
Construction work for the new single-storey building should begin later this year and the company plans to move in by early 2014. It will accommodate up to 20 engineers and the site allows for an extension by adding a second storey.
Chris Holden, RES offshore operations manager, said: "This heightened presence in Grimsby reinforces RES’ commitment to the region."
The site is close to Dong's proposed £11.5 million base in the Port of Grimsby, which is already home to other operators, including Siemens, Centrica and E.on.
