The SCD two-bladed turbine, which has a rotor diameter of 100-metre is to be manufactured by Chinese firm Ming Yang.
Ming Yang produced its first aerodyn-engineered 3MW SCD turbine three years ago.
Due to its modular design concept the turbine weighs about two-thirds of traditional double-fed turbines. Its other main features are compact structure, high performance and cost efficiency.
Ming Yang has recently produced a 6.5MW SCD offshore prototype turbine, and it is working on a 12MW offshore turbine designed for the typhoon environment in China’s offshore areas.
