Worker killed during vessel maintenance

Fatal accident on Sea Jack will spark independent investigation

A fatal accident at the Keppel Verolme yard in Rotterdam occurred this morning, 21 December. During maintenance work on the installation vessel Sea Jack, a 43 year-old Danish employee from Esbjerg-based contractor Peter Harbo A/S died.

The vessel is owned by A2SEA, whose CEO, Jens Frederik Hansen, said: "We are deeply sorry to have to inform that an employee of our supplier has died."

A back-up team has been sent to Rotterdam to support the vessel's crew. An independent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident will be undertaken shortly.
