Ballast Nedam and Mammoet get Westermeerwind work

Siemens lines up contractors for 144MW near-shore project

Siemens Nederland has contracted Ballast Nedam and Mammoet to install the foundations and turbines at the Westermeerwind project.

Ballast Nedam will engineer, supply and install the foundations, while Mammoet will transport and install the 3MW turbines.

The 48-turbine, 144MW wind farm will form the near-shore element of the Noordoostpolder project in the Ijsselmeer, north of Amsterdam. Siemens was appointed recently as turnkey contractor by the developer, Westermeerwind BV.

The turbines will be installed in three rows, 500-1100m from the shore. A further 38 Enercon 7.5MW turbines will be installed on-shore. On completion, the combined project will become the Netherlands' largest wind farm, generating around 1400GWh per year.
