Greater Gabbard and Fluor reach agreement

GGOWL now confident on foundations' structural integrity

Greater Gabbard Offshore Winds (GGOWL) and Fluor have reached agreement on the remaining Greater Gabbard-related claims. The parties were in dispute over the quality of up to 52 transition pieces and up to 35 lower foundations at the 504MW offshore wind farm. GGOWL is owned by SSE and RWE.

Fluor acted as principal contractor during the wind farm's construction, but a dispute arose over the quality of some of the work undertaken. GGOWL says that it is "now confident about the long-term structural integrity of the disputed foundations".

The terms of the agreement have not been disclosed, but Iwan Tukalo, GGOWL general manager, said the agreement was "a positive development, bringing to an end the contractual dispute between the two parties".

Located off the Suffolk coast, the wind farm has been fully operational since September 2012.
