Vos Prodect Innovations lined up for Nordsee Ost

Dutch company to supply cable hang-off systems

ABB has signed up Dutch company Vos Prodect Innovations as preferred supplier for engineering, testing and supply of the cable hang-off systems, for RWE Innogy's 295MW Nordsee Ost project.

A hang-off system secures the submarine power cables to the cable deck of a wind turbine or offshore platform. Vos Prodect said that it will design and supply 104 cable hang-off systems for the infield cables connecting the project's 48 turbines to the substation. The independently operated temporary and permanent hang-off sections will provide flexibility in cable laying and securing operations, the company added.

The Nordsee Ost project is the fifth such contract for Vos Prodect. It completed work at the Borkum West 2 and Global Tech 1 projects last year. In January, it won a contract from Cofely Fabricom for supply of sealed cable hang-off systems at E.ON's Amrumbank offshore station. In March, it was signed up by Norddeutsche Seekabelwerke for design and supply of cable hang-off systems for a UK offshore wind farm, with the work being done this summer. Both Vos Prodect and Norddeutsche Seekabelwerke declined to name this UK offshore project.
