Vestas will supply 30 V112 3MW turbines to the Pintado wind farm to the north of capital Montevideo. Turbines will be supplied in Q3 2013, with the aim of bringing the project online by 2014.
The deal includes a 15-year service agreement.
It is Vestas' second Uruguayan order this year. In January, it received a 42MW order from French developer Akuo Energy for 14 V112 3MW turbines to be installed on the Minas wind farm.
Uruguay has become the latest Latin American market to increase its activity in the wind sector.
In January, Nordex won two supply deals totalling 107MW. This included a 50MW deal with Akuo for the Florida wind project for 21 N117/2.4MW low wind turbines. The project is around 100 kilometres from Montevideo.
A month earlier, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) approved two loans totalling $108 million to finance the construction of two wind farms in Uruguay.
The El Libertador wind farm will be developed by Impsa subsidiary WPE. The project will receive a $66 million loan from the IDB for the project's construction and for the installation of 44 Vensys Impsa wind turbines.
The Palmatir wind farm will be developed by Spanish developer Abengoa in Tacuarembó. Palmatir will get a $41.7 million loan for the construction and installation of 25 Gamesa turbines.
