In the intervening years Husum will hold a national wind energy trade fair, starting in 2015. The joint announcement was made by Hamburg Messe und Congress and Messe Husum.
Husum, a small town in northern Germany, has held an international trade fair focusing on wind technology since 1989. However, with the growth of the industry, many industry observers have felt the industry has outgrown the location.
At the last exhibition in 2012, the majority of the exhibition was held in marquees, while the lack of accommodation has also caused problems for exhibitors and members.
As a result, there has been a growing demand from some sections of the wind industry to move the exhibition to Hamburg.
Speaking about the decision, the CEOs of the two organisers, Husum's Peter Becker and Hamburg's Bernd Aufderheide, said: "It ensures that the leading international wind industry fair will remain in North Germany in the long term. We will work together to move it forward and to give the onshore and offshore industries the world's leading platform, located in Hamburg, a great centre of the wind industry.
"At the same time, we will continue the long tradition in Husum, focusing the contents on the concerns of the national wind market. This solution makes ideal use of the strengths of the two venues, combining to offer the wind industry exactly what it wants.
"The experts of the two trade fair companies will contribute their know-how, working together to deliver optimal results."
