EDF acquires 56MW in France

FRANCE: EDF Energies Nouvelles (EDF EN) has bought a portfolio six wind farms totalling 56.5MW from independent energy producer Séchilienne-Sidec for EUR59 million.

EDF EN will pay an additional amount for a further five projects under development with a combined capacity of 60MW. The assets are concentrated in the Nord-Pas de Calais region and across northern France.

"Organic growth is the focus of our expansion model, but we are open to opportunities helping us not only to accelerate our growth, but also to step up our operations & maintenance activities", said Emmanuel Jaclot, EDF EN's Executive Vice President for Strategy, M&A and DSSA.

For its part, Séchilienne-Sidec says it wants to focus on biomass as an energy source.

On 31 September, EDF EN had 364.5MW net operating capacity in France, with 36MW under construction on its own account and 28.4MW for third parties.
