The company will supply 13 N100/2500 turbines to the Sucklow wind farm, located in Ludwiglust-Parchim. The order has been placed by SüdWestStrom Windpark Sucklow, a consortium comprising utilities and private investors.
Installation will begin by the end of 2012 with the aim of bringing the wind farm online by spring 2013.
The project is SüdWestStrom's first wind farm. Bettina Morlok, the consortium's managing director said: "We explored many different options. However, we ultimately found the most attractive project for our municipal utilities in Suckow."
She added: "Mid-size utilities in particular can invest small amounts in large projects via our cooperative model without having to shoulder the development risks.
"The commitment shown by the municipal utilities and citizens to the Suckow project shows that the municipal utilities will be playing an increasingly important role in the adoption of new methods of producing electricity in Germany."
