The Suzlon-owned company will base Repower Systems Romania in Bucharest. It will be headed up by managing director Jan Gasche.
The announcement follows a 25MW contract win from German wind developer WSB International. Repower will supply eight MM114 3.2MW turbines for a project in Neamt county in northern Romania. The project will be commissioned by Q3 2013.
According to Windpower Monthly's Windicator, Romania added 332MW in the third quarter to take its wind capacity to 1.3GW.
