Goldwind USA expands Latin America sales team

LATIN AMERICA: Goldwind USA has hired a director of South American sales as part of its plan to increase market share in the region.

The company has appointed former managing director of the Chilean Renewable Energy Association Carolina Galleguillos Gonzalez to the new role.

Prior to this she has had roles with the Chilean Renewable Energy Centre as well as an advisory role with Chile's minister of energy.

Speaking about the appointment Goldwind USA CEO Tim Rosenzweig said: "[Carolina] will bring her deep experience working in a variety of capacities throughout the renewable energy space in Latin America.  Her background in sales, project management and advocacy will help Goldwind continue its strong growth into the region."

So far, Goldwind has signed turbine supply deals in Ecuador and Chile, with the majority coming in the latter country through a deal with Mainstream Renewables. It has also won a 55MW deal from Panamanian utility Unión Eólica Panameña (UEP) for its latest 2.5MW turbine.

The Mainstream deal includes 34.5MW deal for 23 GW87 1.5MW turbines for the Negrete Cuel development in central Chile and a 70.5MW deal for Mainstream’s Ckani project in Antofagasta, northern Chile.
