Guohua extends Australian wind portfolio

AUSTRALIA: Guohua Energy Investment Corporation has acquired 75% of the 168MW Musselroe wind farm in Tasmania from Hydro Tasmania.

Guohua is a subsidiary of Shenhua Group Corporation Limited, a coal giant of China. Guohua will have 307.8MW installed in Australia when Musselroe is completed.

The Musselroe wind farm, located in the northeastern corner of Tasmania with rich wind energy resources, went into construction at the end of 2011. It is expected to go into operation in June 2013.

In February, Guohua, through its Australian subsidiary Shenhua Clean Energy Holding, made a transaction with Hydro Tasmania, to own 75% stake of a 139.75MW wind farm in Woolnorth, Australia.

Guohua, established in 1998, is a leading wind power developer in China. By the end of June, it had 3.5GW installed and connected to the grid, the fourth largest in China and 11th largest in the world.
