GE secures supply deal for Swedish wind farm

SWEDEN: GE today announced it had secured a deal to supply a wind farm on Sweden's west coast with 10 of its 2.75-103 turbines.

The project will use GE's 2.5MW turbine

The 27.5MW project is being built near Falkenberg by Swedish energy developer Triventus Wind Power, located close to two other wind farms that also are powered by GE's wind turbines. It is scheduled to begin commercial service in the second quarter of 2013.

GE Energy will deliver the wind turbines to the project site during the first and second quarters of 2013. The turbine manufacturer will also provide maintenance support to the units under a five-year service agreement.

Like other Swedish wind farms, the Triventus project will be supported through the country's green certificate support system.

Other orders

GE is currently testing its GE4.1 offshore turbine in Sweden's Gothenburg harbour.

Last year, the renewables arm of Swedish industrial giant Stena signed a contract to deploy 40 of GE's 2.5-100 wind turbines for installation at four new wind farms in the south of the country.
