Vestas is to merge its Asia-Pacific and China divisions, which will be headed up by current president Vestas China Jens Tommerup.

In its statement, Vestas said the decision was taken to reduce costs. It said it believed the Asian and Chinese regions were "closely interlinked".

The move follows Vestas' decision to close on of its three factories in China. The company said it was closing its factory in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and cut 300 jobs. It will also end production of the the V52 and V60 850-kW machines.
