The £736 million project, which will use Vestas V112 3MW turbines, will be located 8km off the east Yorkshire coast, north of the mouth of the River Humber. It is the first UK order for the V112.
E.on said work is set to start in March with a view to completing the project in 2015.
The project was approved by the UK government last year following issues with the Ministry of Defence over nearby military installations. The problems were resolved last year when the wind industry agreed to help fund the acquisition of a £20 million radar system.
Speaking about the deal, UK Prime Minister David Cameron said: "It will create a thousand jobs in the next few years, spearhead development of the UK's fast growing offshore wind supply chain and strengthen links between the UK and Germany in renewables and grid."
E.on owns three offshore wind farms in UK waters. Blyth in Northumberland, Scroby Sands off the coast of Great Yarmouth and Robin Rigg in the Solway Firth.
