Siemens wins 288MW offshore contract

GERMANY: Siemens has received a 288MW order from E.on for an offshore wind farm in the North Sea.

The project will use Siemens SWT-3.6 120 turbines

Under the deal, Siemens will supply 80 SWT120-3.6MW turbines to the Amrumbank West project, located 35km north of the island of Helgoland. A five-year maintenance deal is included.

Together with the Meerwind and North Sea East offshore wind farms, Amrumbank West is part of the North Sea cluster HelWin.

Earlier this year, Siemens received a contract with Italian cabling firm Prysmian to build a transmission link for Amrumbank West.

The job was awarded by grid operator TenneT TSO and is worth more than €500 million to the venture. It will see Siemens and Prysmian construct a 690MW HVDC link between the Amrumbank West wind farm and the onshore grid.
