The deal is for 56 V90 3MW turbines to go to the Musselroe wind farm in the north-east of the island. A 10-year service agreement is also included in the contract.
Delivery is set for Q4 2012 with the aim of bringing the project online by 2013.
Musselroe will be Hydro Tasmania's third wind farm. It also owns the 65MW Bluff Point and 75MW Studland Bay projects on the north-west tip of the island. Both use Vestas turbines.
According to October's Windicator, Australia has a wind capacity of 1991MW.
