Bi-partisan PTC legislation introduced

UNITED STATES: A four-year extension of the American Renewable Energy Production Tax Credit (PTC) has been introduced.

Congressmen Dave Reichert (Republican) and Earl Blumenauer (Democrat) have introduced legislation seeking to grant the extension. The current arrangement is set to expire next year.

The PTC runs across wind, hydro, geothermal, bio-energy and municipal solid waste electricity generation.

The move has been hailed by the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA). AWEA CEO Denise Bode said: "I want to thank Representatives Dave Reichert and Earl Blumenauer for their leadership in saving and growing American jobs by sponsoring this important piece of legislation.

"This bipartisan support shows that American wind energy jobs are something that we can all agree are vital for our economic wellbeing and energy security."
