The cash will be used to both expand its Isle of Wight research and development centre and design the 82-metre blades for its V164 7MW offshore turbine.
The fund was created to help businesses around England. It was unclear how much Vestas had been awarded.
In February, Vestas said the staff count at its Isle of Wight centre was set to be doubled from 200 to 400. The centre specializes in blade design.
The V164 is set to be manufactured in Sheerness, Kent and will primarily be targeted at the UK’s 33GW Round 3 offshore projects, and northern Europe.
However, the Sheerness deal is still to be confirmed. Vestas has outlined it has a number of requirements before it will make the commitment to build the factory. This includes some form of public investment in the facility.
Last week Vestas signed a deal with Dong Energy for the testing of the V164 in the waters of Kattegat Sea off the Danish town of Frederikshavn
The turbine is set to be installed in 2013.
