Repower to supply cold climate turbines to Alaska

US: German manufacturer Repower has received an order from American utility Golden Valley Electric Association (GVEA) for 12 2MW turbines for Alaska's largest wind-power project to date.

Repower is supplying MM92 turbines that are specifically designed for the harsh Alaskan climate.

The company's CEO, Andreas Nauen, said his company's competency in supplying turbines that are suitable for extremely cold climates had already been tested in Quebec, Canada and Inner Mongolia, China.


The Eva Creek project is due to be commissioned this time next year.
