Eolia sells 100MW portfolio to private equity group

UK: UK-based Impax Asset Management has bought a wind-power portfolio of around 100MW in France and Poland from Spanish renewable-energy company Eolia Renovables.

The assets in north and west France "will fill out our regional strategy in the arc covering Troyes, Amiens and Poitiers, as we build up our Paris-based Epuron France wind business," said Peter van Egmond Rossbach, Impax head of private equity.

Impax bought Hamburg-based developer Epuron late last year. Epuron is constructing a 12MW project in Picardy and expects to start building another 100MW in France and Germany over the next six months.

The deal also includes 6MW of operating capacity in Poland, marking Impax's entry into what it regards as a key target country.

Eolia says it is rationalising its portfolio, starting with the sale of several projects in Mexico earlier this year.
