Rolls Royce receives offshore wind waterjet order

UK: Rolls Royce is supplying waterjets for six new wind-farm support vessels in separate orders for British and Australian shipbuilders.

Two 56A3 waterjets will be supplied for a newly designed 24-metre catamaran from UK-based firm South Boats. The company is one of the largest builders of high-speed vessels which ferry personnel and equipment to offshore sites.

A second order is for two FF500 waterjets for a 17-metre South Boats support vessel.

Six Rolls Royce waterjets have been ordered by Australia-based shipbuilders Austal for three 21-metre turbine support vessels being built by Turbine Transfers in the UK.

CTruk, another UK-based builder of wind-farm support vessels, has also specified Rolls Royce waterjets for its latest catamaran. It followed operations with a similar vessel, the CWind Asherah, operated by Dong Energy and serving the 183 MW Walney Island wind farm in the Irish Sea.
