Vattenfall to use Repower on 122MW Dutch project

NETHERLANDS: Vattenfall has signed a 122MW deal with Repower for a wind farm in the Netherlands.

The Vattenfall project will use Repower's M104 3.4MW turbine

Repower will supply 36 M104 3.4MW turbines for the project, which will be located near Zeewolde, in Flevoland.

The project will be built and commissioned by Spring 2013.

Speaking about the deal, Repower chief executive Andreas Nauen said: "After the successful installation of the Alpha Ventus and Ormonde offshore projects, we are very pleased to work together with Vattenfall also in the area of onshore wind. At the same time we are proud to jointly implement this flagship project – one of the country’s largest wind farms."

According to the latest Windpower Monthly Windicator, as of October 2011 the Netherlands has a total wind capacity of 2,251MW.

Earlier this week, the country announced it would set renewable-energy quotas for utilities from 2015. However, there was some criticism from environmental groups over the limited support for offshore wind.
