The MM100 will have a 100-metre diameter blade and a 100-metre tower. Currently the 2MW turbine comes with 92- and 82-metre diameter blade options.
By bringing out such a turbine, Repower is continuing the trend among manufacturers to add larger blades onto existing platforms to target the low wind market.
Repower said a prototype of the turbine will be tested in mid-2012 with serial production planned for 2013. It also claims the turbine will be the quietest of its class.
Last year, the company launched a 1.8MW version with 100-metre blade for the North American market.
Andreas Nauen, Repower chief executive, said: "We are currently experiencing great demand for large-rotor turbines. Not only in Germany but also in Italy and France where there are still a lot of low-wind locations with great potential."
