Poland launches €100m grid-connection fund

POLAND: The Polish National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (NFEPWM) in early October will launch a modified €100 million grant programme to connect wind farms to the grid.

The wind-farm developers or grid operators who plan to build grid connection can apply for PLN 200,000 (€50,000) per megawatt of wind-farm capacity.

Minimal project value is set at PLN 8 million. NFEPWM has set the maximum value of the grant at 40% of the total cost of the grid connection.

A previous version of the grant programme was less favourable for wind developers. They could apply for only 20% of the total cost of the grid connection.

Additionally small projects could not break the previous barrier of minimum project value of PLN 50 million (€12.5 million).
