Wind farm crane operator killed exiting project

UK: An investigation is underway after a man died when a 130-tonne crane crashed near the 65MW Scout Moor wind farm in Lancashire, northern England.

According to reports, the man had been working on the hilltop wind farm and was on his way down when the incident occurred.

A statement by Lancashire Police said: "Police were called to an incident at Scout Moor Quarry involving an 8-axe mobile crane. The crane appears to have left the road before coming to a stop and trapping the driver. The driver sadly received fatal injuries."

A joint investigation by police and the Health and Safety Executive is underway. Peel Energy, which owns the wind farm, was unavailable for comment.

A crane operator was recently killed in an accident at Agua Doce wind farm in Brazil in the south of the country, though exact details are unknown.
