The project, which will be located in Wayne County, northeast Nebraska, is set to come online in 2013.

Nordex will supply 48 N100/2500 turbines, which are designed for low wind speed areas.

Nordex Vice President of Project Development Josef Fonio said: "Nordex assists wind project developers from an early stage with both technical expertise and financing.

"Our experience in strategic partnering and our resources improve the potential of promising projects like Way Wind.

"The turbines would be built at the company's recently completed production facility in Jonesboro, Arkansas.

Nordex has increased its activity in North America over the last year, winning a number of US contracts including one for a 300MW community project.

In March, Nordex appointed former Alstom sales director Dany St-Pierre as vice-president sales.
