The Bison 2 development, which is located near Center, will use 35 SWT 3.0 101 direct drive turbines.
Siemens said the turbines are expected to be delivered in the second half of 2012 and be commissioned by the end of the year.
Minnesota Power’s Bison 1 wind farm also uses Siemens’ 3MW direct drive turbine.
Speaking about the deal, Siemens VP general manager Jan Kjaersgaard said: "Our direct drive turbines feature only half the parts required for a conventional geared wind turbine and a significantly smaller number of moving parts, allowing for increased output and improved maintainability."
