Construction is due to start in April, for completion early next year. Enerjisa estimates the facility, which will consist of 13 3MW turbines, will generate nearly 129GWh a year.
This is the second time Enerjisa has picked Siemens. The company built and equipped Enerjisa's first wind power plant, a 29.9MW facility at Mahmudiye in the north-western province of Canakkale. The 13 2.3MW turbines were commissioned in February.
"Enerjisa is determined to become a leading player in the field of wind energy," said Guler Sabanci, Chairman of Sabanci Holding, at the commissioning ceremony attended by Turkish energy minister Taner Yildiz. The company is targeting up to 500MW of installed wind capacity by 2015.
Enerjisa is jointly owned by Sabanci Holding, a Turkish industrial and financial conglomerate, and Austrian utility Verbund. In addition to Mahmudiye, Enerjisa has 1385MW of operating gas-fired and hydro generation.
